Esalen® Massage Certification course

We are pleased to offer a certification course to become an Esalen ®︎ massage practitioner (practitioner). Come learn Esalen ®︎ massage with your teacher and fellow students in the beautiful natural environment of Okinawa.

What it the Esalen® Massage?

Esalen®︎ massage was born at the Esalen Institute in Big Sur, California, U.S. This place developed in the 1960s as a center of the Human Potential Movement and was visited by many prominent psychologists, body workers, therapists, and researchers. Esalen Massage was born in this environment and has developed over the past 50 years, incorporating various bodywork, healing techniques, and psychology based on Swedish massage.

The Esalen ®︎ massage uses long, rhythmic strokes, gentle rocking, stretching, and other techniques to touch the client’s entire body in an integrated and conscious way.

This conscious (aware), relaxed, and safe touch brings clients back to the “here and now” and gives them the opportunity to look at and explore their own body and mind with mindful awareness. It not only facilitates changes in the musculature of the body, but also balances the energetic and provides deep relaxation of the body and mind.
The Esalen ®︎ massage technique, also known as “the art of healing,” has trained and produced many practitioners around the world.

Esalen® Massage Certification Course

This is a training course to become an Esalen®︎ Massage Practitioner certified by the Esalen®︎ Institute.

The course follows the curriculum established by EMBA (Esalen Mssage & Bodywork Association) and takes 30 days (175 hours) to learn the techniques of Esalen®︎ massage. The course in Okinawa will be divided into two parts: Part 1 and Part 2. （This program is open to both beginners and experienced massage practitioners.

Upon completion of the training, you will submit 30 case studies and upon certification, you will be eligible to become a practitioner of Esalen ®︎ massage.

Classes begin with an early morning program of meditation, yoga, and movement practices to help you become more aware of your own body, emotions, and sensations.

The morning and afternoon sessions will each consist of three hours of lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on practice. Lectures are not limited to massage, but also include anatomy and physiology, business, communication (psychology), and more. (There are also two evening classes per week for hands-on training.)

Through these various programs, students will learn how to use the body and the quality of touch necessary to do a massage. In addition, students will learn the essence of Esalen ®︎ massage, which is awareness and presence in the here and now, physically and sensually through their own experiences. Each personal experience becomes a bridge to the client’s healing process through your touch.

ペリー・ホロマン（Perry Holloman)

1979年からカリフォルニアのエサレン研究所に勤務。エサレン®マッサージのシニアティーチャー。ディープ・ボディワーク®とソマティック・インテグレーション®メソッドの創始者でもある。エサレン研究所での彼のクラスはいつも満席で人気のクラスとなっている。エサレン®マッサージ・ティーチャートレーニングやゲシュタルト・プラクティス・トレーニング、ブレスワークのプログラムなど幅広い分野で様々なワークショップを提供している。
